Introduction
Moral Welfare Home (MWH) started its operation in April 1997.  MWH is one of the welfare homes run by the Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society and is a home for the reception, care, and rehabilitation of destitute persons.  There are currently around 120 adults with physical, intellectual, or mental impairment, with multiple disabilities.  The NVAC MWH project started its volunteering services in 2000.

Objectives
Motto: Building Friendships, Moulding Lives
Mission: To Enhance & Enrich – THE MWH EXPERIENCE

Volunteers strive to enhance the lives of the residents through interaction and spending quality time, encouraging the residents to develop a degree of self-reliance and pride in their achievements in terms of increased cognitive and psychomotor abilities through sports, music and art.  In the process, the volunteers are enriched as they discover more about themselves and a sense of self-development is achieved.  By volunteering at MWH, we hope that volunteers would enjoy the unique experience through the quality friendships fostered and the various meaningful activities conducted which both volunteers and residents would remember and cherish. We deem this “THE MWH EXPERIENCE”.

And not forgetting our volunteers, we continuously strive to improve our volunteers by going for training courses together. Bonding within volunteers is also a top priority and we have a monthly dinner/lunch get-together, mass mooncake making sessions, chalets and more!

The Home’s mission is to eventually integrate the residents back into the society. Hence our weekly interaction goes a long way into improving the cognitive, physical and social skills of the residents! Your presence makes wonders happen!

Activities
BEfriender – Pairing of three volunteers to two residents and we interact with them, at the same time keep track of their progress towards the short/long-term goals that the home has set for us.

Mass Games – Sing-alongs, dance, ball games and wheel-chair racing are just some of what we do to involve all residents! But we are always open to new ideas to improve our sessions!

Coffee Shop Outing – Bringing of a selected number of residents out to a nearby coffee shop for dinner and shopping session! The more volunteers we have, the more residents we can bring out!

Special Events – Like Mid-Autumn Festival, Chinese New Year celebrations!  We have had volunteers dressed up as Fortune God!

Mega Outings – To places of interest such as the Goat Farm, Zoo.
